As Compiled by Sports Editor Bubba McCalister and his brother Dorris
It's been a real good year sports wise here in Prater's Creek. Our town hosted the C.A.R.P. tournament and all. And we were both glad that Clempsun fired Tommy Bowden as the football coach. But the best thing, by far, on the local sports scene was Hollywood starlet Emma Roberts attending Prater's Creek High School and playing field hockey for the Lady Polecats. (Dorris is enthusiastically nodding in agreement). So as we sit here with our feet up on the desk, and enjoying Irish coffees (thank you Grandpa for the Irish part), watching a cold December rain come down outside, and staying warm by the wood stove, we salute 2008 as a great year and we salute our fighting men and women. Gotta go now, Dorris is reminding me that the Lady Polecats Field Hockey team's practice starts in ten minutes, and he's reminding me that is very cold outside. The sports department here at the Prater's
Creek Gazette, that'd be me and my brother Dorris, want to wish all y'all a
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We'd also like to thank all our
readers. Without you, we'd just be a couple of drunk hillbillies who like to
hunt, fish, throw horse shoes, and attend trading licks contests. And we
wouldn't be as locally famous (we get extra red eye gravy and free biscuits
at the Six Mile Cafe).
