Bears Den Welcomes Newest Member

Grandpa is happy that Stephanie has joined The Bears Den! She has been coming to The Drovers' farm to watch Da Bears on Sunday afternoons, well, actually, she shows up early in the morning for coffee and to help Grandpa hang the Bears flag on the front porch.

During halftime of the games, when everyone goes out to toss the 'ol pigskin around, Stephanie's crisp passes are, what can only be described as, "Cutleresque". And her pass catching abilities and moves would make Devin Hester and Greg Olsen envious!

Then, back in the house when the second half starts, Stephanie plays (cue theme music) SUPERMOM to the Drovers and their friends, especially Jerry "The Rose Always" Bryan, who has trouble keeping his food on his plate and keeps dropping his bratwurst on the floor.

Stephanie and Grandpa were in love 26 years ago, and a few months ago re-met. The love they had carried in their hearts all those years for each other was immediately reignited, making Grandpa the happiest, and luckiest, man on earth.

Stephanie, who grew up in New Bedford, MA, and is the daughter of renowned sportswriter Ralph Hickok, is also a BIG Red Sox fan, much to her daughters' chagrin. Sarah and Becca don't understand why mom always HAS to watch the Red Sox when they are on television.

At left is her Jack-o-lantern for this year, as she was really disappointed they didn't advance in the AL playoffs.

Bears Den Goes On The Road

The Bears Den went on the road last Sunday night to the Georgia Dome to see our beloved Bears play the Atlanta Falcons. The gang was tailgating in the parking lot before the game and met a lot of nice folks from Chicago and enjoyed some brewskies. The weather outside was very windy and cold, and felt more like Chicago in December than Atlanta in October. Luckily, for the Bears Den, the game was inside the dome, unluckily for the Bears, the game was played on the carpet where there was the heartbreaking loss of last year's game there.

Another fourth quarter breakdown cost the Bears the game, and mistakes caused at least three touchdowns were left on the field. Grandpa was BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED over the outcome of the game, but he was thrilled to have Stephanie at the game with him! In the photo there is Grandpa, Stephanie, Charlie McDonald and Jerry "The Rose Always" Bryan, who is a charter member of The Bears Den.
